Program Education Objectives ( PEOs)
The Mechanical Engineering graduate will have :
PEO 1: Successful career in Core Mechanical and Interdisciplinary Industries through strong foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals. (Prep Reparation)
PEO 2: An ability to adopt with rapid technological developments with core Mechanical Engineering knowledge. (Core Competence)
PEO 3: An ability to develop their knowledge and skills across the range of disciplines. (Breadth)
PEO 4: Ability to work in a team and have soft skills with good communication, ethical values. (Professionalism)
PEO 5: An ability to strengthen their knowledge and skills through self-learning throughout their professional career as well as to pursue higher education. (Learning Environment).


Programme Outcomes (Pos)
Engineering Graduates will be able to:
1.Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.


PROLOGUE
The Department of Mechanical engineering is established in 1994. Presently the department has admission capacity 120 for UG program and 18 for PG, CAD-CAM program. The Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the reputed Departments in terms of facility, faculty, students, and activities. It continues to lead and expand its activities in various directions. From the very past years, the department has excellent and consistent academic records that resulted in several university toppers till date. The Department is known for the Expertise and State-of-the art facilities especially in CAD-CAM, Fluid mechanics, Manufacturing and Production Technology, Energy Conversion and also in other core areas. Experimental and computational facilities are being continuously upgraded.
Students are being in constant touch with industries by arranging industrial visits, expert lectures by industry personnel and carrying out the industry sponsored projects for students. The placement cell facilitates the students for getting training in industries. Every year, students undergo in-plant training and industry sponsored projects. The students are actively involved in various reputed contests of national level paper and poster competition in students’ chapter at various reputed institutions. The Department is credited with number of Winner titles. Presently our graduated students are successfully shouldering responsibilities at high level in automobile, aerospace engineering, manufacturing, marketing sectors and likewise several other sectors. In the same line with the special focus, special efforts are being taken for creating interest to be entrepreneurs.
The Department conducts guiding sessions and mock tests for students to face competitive examinations like GATE, GRE etc. The Department has excellent record of in and off campus placement. In the recent years several students are pursuing higher studies in India and abroad. Good number of extra curricular activities such as Workshops, Seminars, expert lectures, and personality development programms are also organized for students for continuous update.
We are abiding to produce high quality Mechanical Engineers to suit Industry, Organization and society needs.
